Evolve, the Internet — Interviewing my classmate

Wearing her mask, crossing her legs, fixing her hair, mentioning her own experience of using the Internet from past to present. Tuen Mun was the place that Vera, my classmate, lived at with her family. She only lived with her mother. They shared one computer and had two mobile devices. “My Wi-Fi was like a garbage! Haha!” Vera shouted. From her voice, I can feel the anger of her about the bad connection of her Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi was hard to connect stably which was wireless and settled in her living room in the house.

“I love to play these games too!” I screamed since I was exhilarated that Vera got the similar experience with me. Both of us have the same memory of playing games, for instance, “Little Prince Online” and “Talesrunner”, with sitting in front of our computers and playing for whole day. In her opinion, the space in connecting the Internet had changed. Vera only used the Internet herself in private media spaces and she likes to interact with friends in the Internet in the present. Vera felt furious that the Internet was usually disconnected while she was playing games since she shared only one data plan with her mother. Perhaps, her mother used the data at the same time and “robbed” it away. She used the Internet very long since she grew up. Talking with Vera brings me immense of satisfaction and I surprised that I have the similar experience with her. I really enjoy the conversation.

In the 1980s and 1990s, the Internet widened in scope to encompass the IT capabilities of universities and research centers. It soon applied on public entities, institutions, and private enterprises from all over the world. Last but not least, the Internet has a large change from past to present and brings people’s life to the fullest. It takes a significant role in experiencing spatiality and mobility. The more sociable people are, the more they use the Internet.
